Get a Dazer, it emits sounds that only dogs and teenagers can hear. Mine works on most dogs when they get close to me and from then on, instead of charging me when I run by, they just pretend they don't see me. The downside is that you occasionally run into a dog it doesn't work on, in my case a toy bulldog with bulging eyes that I originally got the Dazer for, the only thing that works for him is sand in the eyes. Ron Mitchell told me about Dazers, he said they also use them in malls to keep teenagers from congregating. You can get a Dazer at Amazon.com for about $30.
