We have a policy that, in a nut shell, calls for a race to be cancelled if there is lightning in the area and/or flooding. When conditions are poor, hours prior to the start, you can call the Pacers office (473-race) for a out-going message or you may get someone.
In this case, the weather and the start came together at the same time. Not knowing the storm's elements-just rain or something else- made it tricky. It can rain downtown and not a drop somewhere else.
I feel it was a no win situation. If we call off the race when the storm has not arrived and it doesn't come in until say 7pm, we have a lot of angry runners, it was at night so we couldn't delay it too much.
We do need to work out a few things and the board will discuss some of the things that were happening. And remember, you can always make your own decision.
All in all, I hope everyone had a goodtime socializing and eating good food. Thanks to all and to Roy of Butch Cassidy's.
