Cyclist have the legal right to be on the road no matter if it is daylight or dark. The main reason we ride at 5:15 a.m. (some of us even earlier) is to beat the traffic because Mobile is such a noncycling (and running) friendly community.
The driver from the accident yesterday morning had the WHOLE FRIGGIN LEFT lane to herself and there is no reason she should have hit Jeff and Josh (who were in the right hand lane). She refused a breathalizer test and was charged with her SECOND DUI offense in a year. Also, she tried leaving the scene except several of my friends stopped her.
Also, if you have never seen the 40+ riders that ride on Wednesday mornings let me just tell you.......we are lit up like a Christmas tree. I have 2 lights blinking on my bike and some of the cyclist have more.
