It is unfortunate that this race will start at 7:30 am. Mobile Fire Dept.24hr shifts end at 7:00 am, so it will be unlikely that the off-going shift will have time to attend. That means that only 1 of 3 shifts will be able to make the race. I would like to be there to honor our fallen hero's but my shift changes at 7:00 that morning so it looks doubtful I can because of the time issue.(leave work,travel time,SHUTTLE time) Just don't see how I(we) can make it. Not sure who made the start time but it sure doesn't work as far as the Mobile Fire/Rescue Dept. is concerned.
If they are planning to have any Fire Dept.vehicles and personnel attend,then again this could be any issue because of the start time.
This is just my opinion but I base it on 27 years on the MFRD and a long time member of the Port City Pacers. Thanks for listening.
