It's out with the old, in with the new for the Port City Pacers this week. The Old Mobile 8K is gone from the running club's schedule, replaced by Saturday's 8K by the Bay.

"We've found a unique, scenic course along Mobile Bay that we believe the runners will enjoy," said Richard Leonard, the race's director. "The race begins and finishes at Arlington Park on the Brookley Aeroplex. Runners will leave the park and run down into the old University of South Alabama property. There are vistas of the bay, as well as a view of the future Airbus site."

The 8K by the Bay starts at 8 a.m. Saturday. The accompanying 1-mile fun run begins at 9:15 a.m.

The race benefits Penelope House and the Mobile County Sheriff Foundation.

Runners can register at McCoy Outdoor and Run-N-Tri in Mobile and Running Wild in Fairhope until noon Thursday or online until midnight Thursday. Race-day registration will be held at Arlington Park from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m.

Food and beverages will be provided after the race. The postrace party also will feature music, and eco-tours of Mobile Bay will be available.

The Faulkner State 5K starts at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Bay Minette campus. The race also has a 1-mile fun run.

The event benefits the United Way of Baldwin County.

Runners can register at McCoy Outdoor and Run-N-Tri in Mobile and Running Wild in Fairhope until noon Thursday or online until midnight Thursday. Race-day registration will be held at Faulkner State from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m.

Food and beverages will be provided after the race.

The Running for St. Jude 5K will be held at 8:30 a.m. Sunday at Bellingrath Gardens in Theodore. There's also a 1-mile fun run.

Organized by the St. Jude's Runners Association, the event benefits St. Jude Children's Hospital. More than 70 children from the area currently receive treatment for serious illness at St. Jude Hospital.

The event benefits the United Way of Baldwin County. Runners can register at McCoy Outdoor and Run-N-Tri in Mobile and Running Wild in Fairhope until noon Friday or online until midnight Friday. Race-day registration will be held at Bellingrath Gardens from 7:30 to 8:15 a.m.

The Running for St. Jude 5K is a companion event to the Memphis to Mobile Run set for April 16-20. The fourth annual Memphis to Mobile Run is a 391-mile, four-day relay event that will end at USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park on April 20. Two teams will be competing, with each runner covering around 224 miles during the race.

The Suicide Awareness/Prevention 5K starts at 8 a.m. Sunday at Spanish Fort High School. A 1-mile fun run starts at 8:30 a.m.

Organized by the Torobotics Engineering Club, the event benefits the Jennifer Claire Moore Foundation.

Runners can register online. Package pickup will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday in the lobby of Spanish Fort High School. Package pickup will continue and race-day registration will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. at the school.
