The Chickasaw Kiwanis Freedom Run 5K and 1-mile fun run will be held at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Chickasaw Civic Center.
Sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Chickasaw, the event benefits USA Children's and Women's Hospital.
Runners can register at McCoy Outdoor and Run-N-Tri in Mobile and Running Wild in Fairhope until noon Thursday or online until midnight Thursday. Race-day registration will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. at the Chickasaw Civic Center.
Race participants will be treated to red beans and rice from D.C.'s Restaurant and pizza from Godfather's.
The Blue Star Salute Foundation Memorial 5K Run/Walk for Alabama's Fallen Heroes will be held at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, May 17, at USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park.
The event benefits the Blue Star Salute Foundation.
Runners can register at McCoy Outdoor and Run-N-Tri in Mobile and Running Wild in Fairhope until noon Thursday or online until midnight Thursday. Race-day registration will be held from 6:15 to 7:10 a.m. at Battleship Park.
After the race, Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley will be the keynote speaker to honor Alabamians who have served or are serving in the military. Music will be provided by Roman Street Band, the 151st Army National Guard Band and the Murphy High School band. There will be children's activities, too. The event will conclude with a Gold Star Memorial Service for Alabamians who have fallen while serving the country.
The Animal Rescue Run 5K will be held at 8 a.m. Saturday on the intramural fields at the University of South Alabama. The 1-mile Wiggle Waggle Walk will follow at 9 a.m.
Sponsored by Pet Supplies Plus, the event benefits Animal Rescue Foundation.
Runners can register online until midnight Thursday.
Food, beverages and music will be part of the postrace festivities.
The TriFit Trot 5K Run will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at Festival of Flowers Field on the Providence Hospital campus in Mobile. The event has a 1-mile fun run, too.
The event is a fundraiser for exercise stations for a TriFit Fitness Trail.
Race-day registration will be held from 8 to 8:45 a.m. at Festival of Flowers Field.
The postrace party includes food, beverages, health screenings and children's activities.
The Hearts for Haiti 5K Run/Walk will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday at the intramural fields at the University of South Alabama. A three-quarter-mile fun run accompanies the 5K.
Organized by South Coast Church, the event benefits Hearts for Haiti.
Runners can register online until midnight Friday. Race-day registration will be held from 3 to 4:45 p.m. at the SGA Pavilion.
Food and beverages will be provided after the race.
