I had a chance in Birmingham last week to witness Mobile's great ageless runner David Jeffrey compete against the rest of the US runners in the National Senior Games. There were runners from most states and it was for runners 50 and above in 5 year age groups. David ran the 10K on a very hot Saturday morning in 45:25 and was first in the 75-79 age group (next was 53:47) and David was not happy with his time. He beat everyone in the 70-74 age group as well. Peter Rabideau of Orange Beach came in 7th with just over 59. David then returned (with Emma)on Monday and ran the 5K in a huge evening pre-rainstorm wind and ran it in 22:19 and again won the age group as the next time was 23:48. He finished way up in overall on both races. Results are on www.championship-racing.com (Birminghams best running website). David showed both this state and the entire country what a great runner he is and several Birmingham runners made a point to meet him. If you see David, please commend him and make him show you his medals, they are huge. Congratulations to David. He is really an incredible runner and now the entire country knows.
