There also has been some push over the years to include volunteering on race day as part of the GP. My opinion(having done the GP for quite a few years) is that anything that complicates the GP will guarantee that there is less of a chance that we get any results in a timely manner. It takes me an afternoon's work to get the results of a race out. Even with our simple scoring system, in past, the person in charge of the GP would fall months behind in scoring so nobody would know where they stood until the awards ceremony.
Perhaps a more reasonable option would be to cut down the number of short races for which we allow GP points. It has been my observation that most of the top runners score high in the events at all lengths.
