I just felt like that statement was appropriate on "election eve".
The reason that I brought this subject (Gran Prix points) up was to increase participation in the longer races and possibly mix up the run schedule a little bit with more races over the 5k distance. Personally, I think that the 5k is my best race, so this was not an effort to put myself over the top. I like a little variety and thought that this might be a way to increase interest in the longer distances.
I know that we have a few very dedicated volunteers and the last thing that I want to do is to make their tasks so overwhelming that they quit. I still like the simple idea of doubling grand prix race points for races over the 10k distance and a simple volunteer requirement to get people acquainted with helping out.
