It's the water quality locator map maintained by ADEM - that's the Alabama Department of Environmental Resources. Click on the link to Fairhope Beach. You will see that there was a huge pulse of bacteria on May 30th, three days before the race. This was, of course, due to torrential rains and everbody's septic tank over-flowing (God forbit we put sewage treatment facilities in place to stop this <. . . roll eyes . . . > ). Follow-up samples on May 31st and June 5th show the water to be perfecty safe. This is perfectly normal behaivor for almost all bodies of water where people - I believe that would be pretty much all bodies of water.

As much as you guys katterwall (sp?) about the quality of the water in the Bay, you might be shocked to find out that it's probably much cleaner than some of the other places you might choose go to swim - thinking you're swimming in "clean" water.
