For those who have not seen the details, Sharon's Ride for Epilepsy will take place on Saturday, October 27 in downtown Mobile, and starting at Beinville Square. All procees will go the beneift the Epilepsy Foundation of South Alabama.
This event will combine both a non-competetive fun ride, hosted by Mobile Bay Bike Club that starts at 8:00am, and a Criterium Race, hosted by Bay City Breakers and Jeep/SEMC of Pensacola, tentatively starting at 10:45am and continuing throughout the day.
The fun ride offers a 25 mile and 12 mile ride option, both of which will go through the Bankhead Tunnel. These rides will have escorts and signage along the routes. A mandatory rider's meeting will be held at 7:55am for instructions and additional information.
The Criterium Race will include categories for Juniors, Women, Masters, Grandmasters, and USCF-certified Cat. 5, Cat. 4, and Cat. 1-3 racers, as well as a short kid's race. The purse is approximately $3,000, with prizes for Cat. 5. All racers must have a current USCF license or purchase a one-day license prior to the race. There will also be lap prizes, or 'primes' during the individual races. The course will be approximately 1 mile, in downtown Mobile, with between 4 and 6 right-hand turns, depending on the final course layout.
Fees: $20 for the ride for pre-registration,
$25 for day-of-event registration
$30 for the Criterium for pre-registration,
$35 for day-of-event registration
$40 for both events
$10 for kid's race
