This man, Joe, probably does know a lot about 1/2 marathon and how to train for them because he has enough time, daily, to run 1/2 marathons up and down places like Government St. looking "proud as a peacock" as he is passed by by ordinary people such as you and I who are trying to get to work before 8:00 in the morning.
Seriously, have fun with it like what's-his-name said. Remember, this is your first and you don't have to make it your last by doing too much. Relax! There are more 1/2's down the road for you to excel in.
