Back when I worked with the residents at USA, we had 2 different ortho
groups, and each had a chief, as well as an attending physician.
On various occassions when I had a problem, I would get 4-5 opinions,
and what was scary was they were all different.
One of the chiefs was a runner, and the other wasn't. Of course the one
who didn't run said not to run, and the other said continue to run. Its
very difficult to diagnose a lot of running problems. Through the years
after seeing orthopods, one thing always is the same. Unless you need
surgery, rest, anti inflammatories/possibly orthotics will be the solution. In my case causes are past injuries/overuse/imbalance of muscles.
A lot of us are looking for a quick fix, or what caused it, so we can
get it back to normal. Usually it happens over time, so it takes an
adequate amount of time to heal/or fix the problem. It may continue to
happen again, and again, and if you or the Doctor can figure out the
reason, it becomes most frustrating.
